Movie Review: Cloverfield

First, I apologize for again abandoning the blog. The workload has quadrupled (maybe more) this year, as if last year’s workload wasn’t heavy enough. I believe this has something to do with tutors struggling to finish the entire syllabus before mid this year.

Probably the best movie I have seen so far this year. Paramount actually did a good job putting the Cloverfield project under a veil of heavy secrecy — mysterious casting and no scripts were sent out.

Eventually, a cast of ‘good-looking’ unknowns (another great idea from Paramount, it just adds spice to the movie) were put together. The movie is shot with a hand-held camera (imagine ‘Blair Witch Project’ or a YouTube video) which just puts you right in the movie.

Peppered with humor and amazing action sequences, I am giving Cloverfield a rating of
Rating: ★★★★★

But please make sure to take a leak before entering the cinema. Watch it!

Couldn’t agree more man! Haha. I wanna watch it again. Sorry, we (the GoKiLs) wanna watch it again. Mau join? Haha

I thought the movie needed more information on the ‘thing’. Other than that, I think it was quite all right. The scary ’spider’ scenes were indeed scary and put you right in the movie, which was great. LOL.

@mR.GoKiL: Are you serious? I would love to see the movie lagi. Walaupun balik2. AHAH

@Tina: Apparently it was meant to be like that. Try reading [Warning: Spoilers] this (Gokil, you might want to read that too). It got me all excited.

The fictional characters in the film have their own MySpace page and a blog!
I smell a sequel coming up for Cloverfield.

Yeah, u’re right Affy. JJ Abrams wanted to make the movie a mysterious one. That’s why there no clue on what the monster is and where it came from. He also wanted to create an American monster. And yes, I think there will be a sequel cause I just read cloverfieldclues.blogspot.com, in which it mention that at the end of the credits, you can hear Rob’s voice saying “Help…It’s still alive”! Haha. Interesting, huh?

DARN. The link you gave made me want to watch the movie again. LOL.
