Brunei expelled from Olympics’ opening ceremony

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

BEIJING - The IOC excluded Brunei from participating in the opening ceremony of the Beijing Games on Friday because its national Olympic committee failed to register the country’s two athletes by the required deadline.

Brunei had until midday Friday to register its two athletes _ 15-year-old swimmer Maria Grace Koh and shot putter Mohammed Yazid Yatimi Yusof _ with the International Olympic Committee, but missed the deadline.

Brunei’s ruler, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, was one of many dignitaries slated to attend the opening, alongside U.S. President George W. Bush and French President Nicolas Sarkozy. — Yahoo News

Uh-oh, someone got some explaining to do.
Why am I not surprised?

(Here is a funny Olympic video)

Okay off to school for my Mathematics 1 paper. Later.

Waking up to no internet

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

I have no idea how reliant I am on the internet until our oh-so-beloved internet service provider, decides to cut off the entire nation away from the world wide web for FOUR days without any warning. Yeap, four days!

It was not easy, but we managed.

I believe our South Park friends had pretty much hit the nail on the head when it comes to describing what actually happened during those four packet-less days. It was scary.

The full episode of South Park’s “Over Logging” can be seen here.
Let me remind you that it is South Park, so make sure the kiddies are safely in bed.

You don’t know you much time I waste my time online checking up on things that aren’t important.

I stumbled upon a site a couple of weeks back, but back then I didn’t have the time and the will to blog. I later found out that the original article was taken down. Thanks to my award winning detective (stalking) skills and a few Google search, I later found out that the original article is mirrored on a site.

Point is that the article is in-your-face funny and somewhat surprisingly true. People with no sense of humor or relevant authorities need not click. I would also like to point out that the article might be extremely offensive to some.

Things I found on the beach

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

I went out on little expedition to sandy shores of KB. Luckily, I have my iphone with me to document my day.

After a few feet walking down the beach, I got hungry. Good thing I found a packet of these cream wafers laying around!

The already opened, filled with sand, cream wafers were good. It made me really happy. I continued my little expedition down the beach. I later found a packet of Cadbury’s Bytes. What are the odds! I jumped up and down and giggled like a little girl.

As I finish my delicious treats, the sun was getting brighter and brighter. It was getting a little warm for me. But guess what? A few metres away, I found some ice-cream!

The ice-cream was delightful. It was getting dark and it was time to go home. Mom insisted that I brush my teeth before we leave.

…and that was my trip to KB Beach.

Until next entry, please stop littering.

KB Bloggers Night, my take

Monday, January 28th, 2008

I am probably the last one to update.

Arrived with Mr. Gorgeous, Archery Girl and Bashbash. Except for Archery Girl, both whom I officially met for the first time that night.

At the reception, I met DIY extraordinaire for the first time. And I believe her exact words were “Are you wearing powder?” AHAHAHH. I’m not even going to elaborate on that.

Also at the front door was Lois Lane in her tiger print dress, looking very busy (and important) as ever.

Met the man behind World Of Pablo shortly after. Thanks for the kind advice man!

Shared a table with Mr. & Mrs. Jurin, Mr. & Mrs. Gokil, Mr. Gorgeous, Bashbash and Archery girl.

Quiet Mr. & Mrs. Jurin disappeared halfway through the night. Word on the street is that they were abducted by aliens.

Mrs. Gokil almost had a wardrobe disaster. I am so sorry, I just had to pointed that out. HAAHHA

Also met/chatted with Iskandar, Maurina, Beyla, Alin (Kurapak), Cici, Bling-bling Sisters and many others too (forgive me if I forgot to mention).

Noone left empty handed, food was great, entertainment was awesome –It was a successful night. I didn’t even realize the appointed MC of the night didn’t turn up. Congratulations to Bin-Khalid of Arab Families and Liza of KBhappening. Also to Maurina, who hogged all the big/grand prizes that night.

I’ll be there tonight:

Free Photo Hosting - Photolava.com

To answer your pre-event questions:

  • No, I’m not a robot that needs to be plugged in every afternoon.
  • No, I am not a fictional character. I do exist.
  • No, I am not some kind of Government experiment trying to brainwash everyone through blogging.
  • Yes, I will only talk to people with a Twitter account, so don’t bother approaching if you don’t have one (AHHA, just kidding).

And uh, about 4 times a week.

See you there and please don’t hog the refreshment table.

Stells, Affy and Fez
L-R: Stells, Affy and Fez (photo stolen from Fez’s flickr)

I learn something on that day. I learnt that medieval weaponry is not my thing. Nope, not my thing at all, despite endless guidance from the archery workers.

I’ve been there twice, took the crash course on ‘how to shoot a bow and arrow’ lesson twice and still suck… bad.

I’ll stick to blogging, thank you.

QQeStore

It was my first time with them and I must say, I am very impressed with the quality of service. The customer support is extremely helpful — all e-mails were promptly responded and calls were politely answered — despite multiple phone calls in a day. Haha. Thumbs up!

The people manning the e-speed support hot-line could definitely learn a few good things from them.

I am impressed. I am very impressed, indeed.
Please give Leen or Anne a raise. Haha.
