Sorry for the lack of updates. School’s being a bitch.

Finally had the chance to check out Dreamcones, the one in Kiulap. I managed to taste Rocher and Strawberry. Both of them were great! Thumbs up to Dreamcones! Highly recommended.
Mid-year commences end of May. Here’s my timetable:
Don’t be surprised if I go missing in the coming weeks (though, very unlikely)
I have some photos to upload, but I’ll save that for later.
Sorry for the speedy update. Lately, I haven’t had anything blog-worthy to blog about.
Until next entry, this is Affy, reminding my fellow readers not to play with fire.
I love watching cooking shows. I wouldn’t classify myself as a foodie as I am not fond of taking step-by-step photos of preparing food and I am not good in explaining things. I enjoy watching the process of turning simple raw ingredients into a delectable dish. One of my favourite chefs/cook is Nigella Lawson. She never fails to leave me salivating at the end of her show, Nigella Bites (Astro Ch 11 - Travel and Living). In addition, she is also pleasing to the eyes (an added bonus).

Nigella Lawson. I am not sure what is in the bowl but I know it’s divine.
Her site, Nigella.com, is full of her heavenly easy-peasy (looks easy anyway) recipes. I suggest you visit the dessert section. Even-though there aren’t any food photos supplied — you know it’s going to be good just by looking at the elements. Plus, she is Nigella the domestic goddess, you know you can’t go wrong.
Ohhh… droool. More droool. Monster cookies anyone?
I think it’s time for my post-dinner snack.
Nightnight.

These are my babies just a few minutes in the oven. Well, not really, I just chuck all the ingredients in the bowl and my little sister did the rest. Its Betty Crocker’s double chocolate chunk cookies. Did you know they double in diameter in the oven? They look like cat shit on a very bad day but ‘Dont judge a book by its cover’. Its crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, which is perfect! Mum’s bakery and FunBread bakery in your face! Haha. I’m baking more of these suckers Monday afternoon, probably in gingerbread man shape just because its Christmas.

I have odd cravings just the second I step into bed these past few days and I don’t know why. Could my attempt in quiting smoking (doing great by the way — nicotine free for 3 days) play a major role in this freakishly weird cravings? And what freakishly weird cravings I’m refering too? Potato. Yup, out of all the edible things, its Potato - plain ‘ol potato. I had potato jackets the night before, and today, its double deep-fried potato wedges. Yes, still trying to remain in the potato genre. Who knows what tomorrow’s craving might be? Mashed potato, maybe?
On a complete starchless (i guess) note, I’m trying my hands on baking chocolate chip cookies tonight (if time permits, that is). Its my first baking attempt, so wish me luck that my house doesn’t go up in flames. And even if it doesn’t taste that good: just say my baking totally passes your expectation, okay?

Buttermik chicken from the WYWY Restaurant in KB. You should try one of these suckers if you just happen to stopby. I believe they also have a smaller branch in Seria but the grand-daddy is here in good ‘ol KB. They give generous portions here and there is an ENORMOUS variety of foods to choose from, (the menu is like a food catalogue) from all corners of the globe. They also serve the essentials if your operating a restaurant here in Brunei - fried rice, fried noodles and afternoon ‘cucurs’ - with the WYWY twist. Although it seems like the perfect family restaurant, ambience is great and not to mention free WiFi, the food served isn’t consistent. Sometimes, its too salty, too sweet and even too watery. If you’re lucky, you get it just right. Oh and by the way, I believe they close at 3AM, which is a definite bonus.
And if you’re wondering why I start my post with a picture, its flickr. Thanks to the multimedia message (MMS)technology and the power of 3g, I can blog via my phone. Very convenient, indeed.

If you haven’t tasted Swensen’s ice cream, you don’t know what you’re missing out on. Their ice cream is like sex with your tastebuds. I would love to say, sex in your mouth, but that just doesn’t sound right. If you just happen to visit Swensen’s (level 2 at the Mall, Gadong) you MUST order one of these. The texture is sensational. Its hot, cold, soft, hard and smooth all in one bite! The first layer is the hot syrup and the chopped fruit (in my case, it’s banana), the second layer is the ice cream (vanilla) and the last layer is a spongy cake - all this served in a blazing hot plate. Yummy! Its been months since I’ve been there, so I’m damn sure to place an order if I’m in the Gadong area next time. Maybe, you should too.
