Movie Review: You Don’t Mess With the Zohan

You don't mess with the Zohan
A truly hilarious movie with astounding action sequences centered around a man with an abnormally large crotch, living the alpha male dream but secretly wishes to be a hairdresser.

Affy says go watch it.

Movie Review: The Happening

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

While everyone is busy studying away for the upcoming mock exams (scary), I am still in holiday mood — despite the fact that school started almost 2 weeks ago. I like to call this ‘holiday lag’.

So I watched the Happening last night. And errr ??? ??? ??? ???

??? ??? ??? ???

Rating: ½☆☆☆☆ ?
Only for the effort put into it.

I should’ve listened when Nisa said to just skip this movie.

As usual, trailer underneath the cut.

Movie Review: Good Luck Chuck

Sorry for the lack of updates. It’s exam week. And everyone is busy busy busy. Regular updates will commence soon.

Rating: ★½☆☆☆

I almost dozed off twice while watching this movie — even with the numerous steamy scenes (sadly, most of them doesn’t involve Jessica Alba).

A reason to watch? 3 words, people: Jessica Alba strip-tease.

Movie Review: Juno

Friday, February 1st, 2008

Juno (played by the talented Ellen Page) is 16, wise beyond her years and pregnant. Knocked-up the first time she had sex with fellow partner Paulie Bleeker (Micheal Cera from Arrested Development), she decides to give her baby up for…

Juno Poster

I love how the script is written — it’s so witty, fast and random, you just can’t help it but to burst out laughing. A truly hilarious movie, and I think I peed a little in my pants (just kidding). Backed by an amazing (also random) selection of music, I am giving Juno a rating of:

Movie Review: Cloverfield

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

First, I apologize for again abandoning the blog. The workload has quadrupled (maybe more) this year, as if last year’s workload wasn’t heavy enough. I believe this has something to do with tutors struggling to finish the entire syllabus before mid this year.

Probably the best movie I have seen so far this year. Paramount actually did a good job putting the Cloverfield project under a veil of heavy secrecy — mysterious casting and no scripts were sent out.

Eventually, a cast of ‘good-looking’ unknowns (another great idea from Paramount, it just adds spice to the movie) were put together. The movie is shot with a hand-held camera (imagine ‘Blair Witch Project’ or a YouTube video) which just puts you right in the movie.

Peppered with humor and amazing action sequences, I am giving Cloverfield a rating of
Rating: ★★★★★

But please make sure to take a leak before entering the cinema. Watch it!

Movie Review: National Treasure 2

Monday, December 24th, 2007

Rating: ★★★½☆
I am probably the one most excited when they announced National Treasure: Book of Secrets. It’s nice that they decide to incorporate humor into the script (non-history geeks like me would probably fall asleep) for the sequel. I may be a little biased (big fan) on this review. But it was a great movie, scored the best seats, night show, the cinema wasn’t filled with snoring granpops and crying babies — nothing to complain.

Yeah, if you’re wondering… yes, I am eye-ing on a Nintendo Wii. Hahah.

Merry Christmas peeps.
Don’t drink and drive.

Movie Review: Dead Silence

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

I just saw this last night.

Boring. I saw this movie all alone at 1am and it didn’t even scare me a bit.
The movie looks like as if it was shot in a studio.

Go save your money or buy something else.

Long overdue movie review.

Movie Review: Jangan Pandang Belakang

Monday, September 17th, 2007

This movie is a shame. It started out okay but then, it felt a little dragish. There was no real movie plot, just a few scares (or not) here and there, and that was basically it. Nothing nail-biting nor spine-chilling or whatsoever.

The thing (I don’t think I can classify it as a ‘ghost’) looked like a mechanical robot which survived a blazing inferno (which explains the charcoal complexion) wrapped in dish rags. It wasn’t scary at all — unless, you’re afraid of funny looking robots.

Save your $5 or get something better like, um, ‘A Walk To Remember’. That movie was so scary, I almost peed in my pants — no kidding.

Rating: ½☆☆☆☆

School starts in a few hours.
Still in holiday mood. :(
